I’m Angela Ying Neubauer, an Austrian-Chinese designer, maker and storyteller based in Vienna.
Rooted in speculative design, worldbuilding, and storytelling, my work orbits themes of ecology, interdependence, and care in an age of rapid technological advancement. Through an interplay of physical objects and multimedia, I’m passionate about making hopeful futures tangible
— opening a dialogue about our individual and collective roles in shaping what’s to come, and what to leave behind.
From workshop builds to Unreal Engine renderings, I love working across mediums and within collaborative teams, creating evocative experiences that invite people to slow down, think, and occasionally wonder just what world they’ve landed in.
My work has been exhibited internationally, including the Ars Electronica Festival, Vienna Design Week, Biennale Warszawa, and the Digital Art Festival Zurich. It has also received an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica and a STARTS Prize nomination.
When not contentedly in over my head in a project, I can be found conducting serious research in the hardware store’s tile aisle, or tending to my colony of 58 tomato plants.
